5 out of 5 stars Friends and Family send pictures to my frame with ease   June 17, 2010
David Lowe (Florida)

Ok, regarding the negative reviews in the past, you must note that they are all ones that did not have the upgrade applied to this frame. I purchased this frame on sale for $69.99, and for a wifi/internet-ready frame, it is a steal. In fact I purchased 6 of these at once (3 from my account and 3 from my girlfriend's, since there is a limit of 3 orders per account), and all of them work fine at the same time in the same house, but please use [...] for all of your frames as described below. If you have wifi and you have the internet, you do not need to worry about installing the software that comes with the frame, you won't need it. Below are the notes of my experience with timestamps for setting up one frame. If you have more than one of these frames, you will need to do all these steps for each frame and have separate framechannel accounts for each frame. br / br /10:39a Frame is plugged into the wall and turned on sitting next to me. br /10:39a I chose language, then pushed light on the right edge of screen to the right of the "Save" icon br /10:39a The frame is scanning for wifi br /10:40a The frame found linksys, I pushed the light to the right of the "OK" icon br /10:40a My linksys router is unsecure, easier that way, I push the "Exit" light at bottom to finish wifi br /10:40a Frame is now connecting to linksys, I clicked "Scan Now" light to verify wifi connection br /10:41a Frame shows my computer as first option in scan, I pushed the light to the right of the "Done" icon br /10:42a Frame setup is now completed, I pushed to the right of the "Home" icon br /10:43a Frame says there is firmware update 2008.09.09 br /10:43a I slid my finger across bottom lights to choose Install now, then clicked "OK" br /10:43a Frame says Downloading firmware, do not power off br /10:45a Frame says Upgrading firmware, do not power off br /10:45a Frame says Firmware upgrade success br /10:45a Frame starts to reboot then boots back up br /10:46a Frame comes up with music playing and demo pictures. Turn volume down on top left of frame br /10:46a I push on right border of frame to get the lights to appear br /10:47a I Choose the "Home" icon on the right br /10:47a I Choose the "Web Media" icon at bottom br /10:48a I moved my finger from left to right across bottom lights to highlight "FrameChannel" option br /10:48a I choose "Select" on right side of frame br /10:49a I moved my finger from left to right across bottom lights to highlight "FrameChannel Info" option br /10:49a I choose "Select" icon br /10:49a Your activation code for [...] appears br /10:50a In your Web browser go to kodak.[...] br /10:51a Click Create an Account br /10:52a Enter Activation code displayed on frame, then complete your new account setup br /10:52a You are now logged into your framechannel account br /10:52a Click the My Friends Photo icon br /10:53a Enter an email address to authorize, for example your mobile phones email address, then hit "invite" br /10:54a That email address can now send pictures to your frame br / br /It took me 15 minutes to write these instructions and set up the frame at the same time. When your friends send pictures to the frame, from a cell phone for example, they will be sent as emails. They will show up in your framechannel account first (10 min delay est), then to the frame itself (another 10 delay est). br / br /If you go back one screen in your browser, you will see you currently have 4 channels, My Photos is where you can upload your own photos to display without using the Kodak software, My Friends Photos that we just setup, The 3-Day weather and Calendar. These are just a small sample of the other channels you can display with [...], Have fun! br / br / br / br / br / br /

4 out of 5 stars Nice Photo Frame - Could Be Easier to Use   June 17, 2010
J. Weingram (Philadelphia, PA)
The frame looks great and displays photos nicely. My main complaint is that connecting to a network is cumbersome and if the network is unavailable no photos from the web are displayed. It either doesn't store the photos internally or doesn't let you see them when disconnected. br / br /This was a problem when we set this up for my mother-in-law and when she got home couldn't see any photos. Helping her set up wifi over the phone was a long process and diminished the excited over the gift. br / br /If they fix this one issue the device is a home run for giving to non-techy people.

3 out of 5 stars This frame is frustating to use!   May 15, 2010

I'm still trying to figure this frame out. It says it holds over 4000 thousand photos, but only after a few hundred, i was unable to store any more.

br /Wish that had built it in the same format at their P730. br / br /It is brighter, but the 16:9 format is not very pleasing to the eye. br / br /

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Product but Tough Setup   March 24, 2010
Eli (New York)

I am very pc/gadget savvy, but found the setup tedious and confusing. Now that the frame is running I am very happy with it and recommend it. I installed the firmware upgrade immediately which probably resolved many of the earlier technical glitches and I use FrameChannel exclusively to manage the content (no memory cards). More about the setup and usage. br / br /Setup: br /- Connecting to the wireless network was easy (typing is clunky but is a one-time occurence). br /- Updating the firmware was easy (wirelessly or via thumbdrive) br /- I had difficulty connecting to FrameChannel and loading the web-media feeds, the frame froze several times, powering on/off did not solve the problem initially(there is no pinhole button to do a hard-reboot). br /- Managing the feeds and content was tricky and intermitten at first. There are many ways to load/receive content which was confusing and the online FAQ/documentation was not very helpful. br / br /Daily Usage: br /While you may need some fortitude for the initial setup, I found once that's in the past it works like a charm. FrameChannel is a great product, I use it exclusively to manage/load content. In contrast to the initial setup, FrameChannel is very intuitive, easy to use and powerful. I.e. you can manage multiple feeds (Flickr, Picasa, RSS etc...)and prioritize content, all very easily. Additionally, FrameChannel includes an email account to update the frame with content, i.e. snap a photo with your phone and email it directly to the frame.
