5 out of 5 stars Ver pleased   May 6, 2010

I purchased the ViewSonic VFC720 picture frame for my wife who was returning to work after maternity leave with our first child so she always had plenty of pictures on hand. After seeing the frame in action, I ordered one for my desk as well! The 2Mb internal memory doesn't seem like much, but if you resize the pictures to 800x600 (Google Picasa makes this really easy), it will hold hundreds of pictures. The image quality is great (even better considering the relatively low cost of the frame) and the remote is very easy to use. The only possible draw backs I can think of are 1) the short (1') usb cable and 2) when the frame is turned off and turned back on, it always restarts the slide show from the beginning instead of resuming.

5 out of 5 stars Great value, Works well   April 4, 2010

I bought this frame for my wife, and she loves it. My only previous experience with ViewSonic was a monitor that has performed well for the past decade. If it weren't for the picture changing and the little dot in the border (for the remote), then it would be hard to tell that it's digital (that's good!). Setup was easy with a Mac: just plug it in, turn it on, connect the USB cable and it shows up as a drive so you can delete the preloaded images and drag in your own. The remote control is simple enough for a 3 year old to at least turn it on and off (not sure if that's a good thing!); mostly it's convenient for not having to use the buttons on the back of the frame, especially during the initial setup (you can set the time per picture, transition effects, clock, etc.), or if you want to get to a specific picture quickly. Some of the buttons are a little cryptic, but most are intuitive and the manual explains the rest. The 2GB internal memory is way more than we need, but at least it leaves plenty of room to grow. If you're looking for your first digital photo frame, and you just want something relatively inexpensive (under $60) and simple to use, then I highly recommend the Viewsonic VFD720-12.

5 out of 5 stars Viewsonic Digital Frame   April 2, 2010

Worth every penny. It behooves you to get a minimum 800x600 resolution and this frame simply gives an outstanding display even on old negatives I converted to digital format. Has many other perks and the internal memory means you dont even have to get an sd card. Can set time display for photos and many more things that make this frame great.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent in medium size photo frames   March 24, 2010

Excellent picture quality, good screen resolution. I like the picture quality and free 2 GB space so I didn't had to buy extra memory for this one. Excellent product. But next time I won't buy smaller one. I thought that 7 inches would be good but it's good only for closeup photos. I think one should buy bigger screen size, at least 10 or 12 inches but yes that would be expensive. This is one is the best in 7 inch segment.

I had seen digital photo frames in homes and cubicles, but none impressed me much. Images were grainy or stretched out of proportion. We owned another brand, bought in a whim by my wife for more money than this Viewsonic, for about two days. It just wasn't working out for us, due mainly to the widescreen aspect ratio that did not match our photos. That helped answer why I had seen so many warped photos on others' frames. br / br /After reading a few reviews for the VFD720-12, I took the plunge. The image quality on the frame is outstanding -- like looking at a lab-quality print behind glass -- and the aspect ratio is just right for our point-and-shoot digital cameras, with only a little letterboxing for my DSLR photos. Wonderful digital frame, and the 2GB of built-in memory has been plenty for us so far. br / br /Resizing the photos is not needed, but after a simple batch conversion to resize them to the 800 x 600 native resolution using free software, we have more than 400 photos on ours and are not close to running out of space yet. Even if we do, we can always add a memory card. Oh, and it has a remote control, but we've never had much reason to use it. If you're wanting multimedia features like sound or video playback, look elsewhere.
