5 out of 5 stars Great!   June 28, 2010

I just put my photos on a thumb drive, plugged that into the side, turned it on and whammo! SLIDE SHOW! Photos are crisp and wonderful color, etc. too......

4 out of 5 stars You get more than you pay for.   June 23, 2010
Shane Slack (san francisco)
I ordered this after reading all of the horrible reviews, but I figured what could i lose for 40$ and free shipping. Not expecting much, i have been very surprised. First off the build quality was actually very sturdy and better then many reviews on here mention. Second the screen is GREAT! The size and clarity alone make this a steal. The downside is people were right, the screen does freeze at times, I put about 70 pics on an SD card and it cycled thru then stopped and i would have to turn it off and back on. I found that if you set it to cycle 1 min per photo it doesnt freeze at least for 10 hours and by then its ready to be turned off (with the cool auto shut off feature). I tried a couple vids, that were downsized from 720p and they played fine, WITH SOUNDS. It has so many features for the money that i really think the occasional freezing isnt an issue. If it werent for the freezing i would have given it 5+ stars, i could see people paying 80 or more being unhappy but for 40$ its a steal. Just mess with the settings and it should work good all day. br / br /The pros: br /-Many ports, usb small usb large, sd, compact flash. br /-Great build quality with changeable frames. br /-Many settings and features br /-Remote control br /-Great screen, You really have to look close to try to find pixels. people cry about 800x600 res, those people want something for nothing. My macbook is 800x600 and both have great screens. br /-CHEAP! br / br /the cons: br /-Freezes if set to 15 sec cycle or less. br /-internal memory is corrupt? I dont know tho, all the pictures i wanted to transfer did fine. I also use a card anyway so its not really an issue. br / br /In summary, at anywhere under 60$ especially at 40 this is a steal! above that especially above 100, i would be a little more dissapointed. br / br /

3 out of 5 stars Opteka 12.1 Digital Picture Frame   February 27, 2010

Great Screen for low price, easy to setup but like a few other reviewers sometimes the slide show freezes on one picture (random pictures) and you have to restart the picture frame. I would say for the price it was a good deal but the picture show freezing is an annoyance.

1 out of 5 stars nice screen, terrible OS   February 17, 2010
Thomas W. Payne Jr. (San Francisco)
i bought this thing to load up our family photo album for my parents. granted, i wanted to put a TON of photos on the memory stick i was to use with this device, but there is no indication of a limit. i was stuck having to guess how many photos it would read and never really figured it out because it was totally variable and just froze to indicate it was beyond its limit. br / br /additionally, during playback, it abruptly stopped after a couple hours and started flashing fragments of images forcing a restart. all of this is a complete no starter for my parents who will never be able to trouble shoot it. i already play CTO on the rest of their junk, i don't need another device that only functions when i'm home to visit, LOL. br / br /don't be fooled by the price, i've spent way too many hours on this thing and back it goes...
