1 out of 5 stars Great Idea... if it worked   March 8, 2010

I think my problem might be with the macbook I have , for after 1 week trying to use the Kodakpulse it still does not work. And as usual with Kodak, trying to contact anyone at customer support is like pulling teeth. Finally tried to use the 'online chat' feature which The page cannot be found br / br /The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. br /Please try the following: So much for help from Kodak. br / br /I would think twice about purchasing this if you have a MAC (APPLE) product. From other reviews it seems to work well with PC users. As with a lot of new technology sometimes the first generation of a product seems to have bugs. I will be returning this item until Kodak gets it right.

1 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk-Not Mac Compatible   March 8, 2010

I actually returned the first one I received thinking it was defective. br /After receiving the second one and continuing to have problems I returned it as well. br /I called Kodak tech support and they were of little help. br / br /It does not seem to be Mac compatible. Does not work with iPhoto. br / br /I tried to upload simple JPG files from my desktop and it would only upload 10% of them. br /I also could not get it to upload all of my JPG files from a jump drive. br /I tried various different photo files and had problems regardless. br /I would not recommend this product. br /

4 out of 5 stars Great Concept / Solid Frame...Not Perfect (Yet)   March 7, 2010

Just bought this for my Mom for her B-day. Was in town this past weekend and wanted to hook it up for her and get going. Setup is very straight forward, and the personalized [...] webpage you setup that is dedicated to your frame is really nice and almost fool-proof. br / br /The wifi setup was very quick/easy, as was the entire process. I started streaming pics from my computer to the frame and didn't really have any issues at first. But after streaming about 6-7 sets of pics (some groups 100pics at once)...something happened. I was no longer able to stream (x-fer rate kept staying at 0 B/s) from my computer to the frame as I was previously able to do a few hrs earlier. I checked the frame and it said the wireless connection, etc was GOOD, and there was plenty of space left on the frame. Working with Kodak support now to try to fix. Now, I could obviously just x-fer them from my computer to frame via memory card or USB, then just copy those into the internal memory...but that's not the point. Seems like some sort of interface issue / wireless issue between the [...] personal site where you can manage your frame (settings, add pics, etc). One thing of note is that even during this time...I was able to email photos to the frame via the personalized email address that you setup (VERY nice). Lastly, don't bother buying a memory card or USB unless just going to use it to x-fer pics. I loaded ~500 ~2-2.5 MB pics on the frame, it was only like 10% full. I was nervous about only having 512MB internal storage on the frame, but the jpegs get compressed way down when you load them (pics still look fine)...so you can fit A LOT of pics on just the frames 512MB internal storage. br / br /Overall, the concept of this frame is VERY appealing. Seems like may have a few kinks to work out (sure firmware updates could fix this)...which isn't surprising given it just was released. The easy of use, ability to email pics directly to the frame is the best feature (GREAT for family use). I may return this one now and wait a few months to repurchase, or wait until they come up with a larger pulse frame (would love a 10").

5 out of 5 stars finally, a photo frame for grandparents   March 6, 2010

I've been looking for a photo frame that I can give to my parents, who don't get to see my kids often. I wanted one that allows me to update pictures remotely, and doesn't require any technical knowledge on their part. I tried a few WiFi-capable units: Toshiba (wide-screen ratio, a mistake), Viewsonic (doesn't auto-play when turned on), and Pixstar (seems nice, but $230?). Finally, Amazon emailed me about the new Kodak Pulse, which at the time got three 5-star reviews. Well, what the heck, I decided to buy it and try it out for myself. br / br /Pros: br /- Very nice, clear LCD display. It appears to be higher res than other frame. Maybe it's because it is only 7", yet 800x600 pixels. Maybe the LED backlight helps too. The colors also seem richer on this frame. br /- Small frame border. Some frames have a ridiculously large border, which takes focus away from the pictures. br /- Once configured, zero-configuration needed to use. Perfect for non-technical viewers. br /- Impressive web management tools, with many settings. br /- No remote! Yes, this is a feature! Since it has web management, there is no remote control to lose. And photo navigation is done thru touch screen. br /- Simple, elegant design. The frame is also pretty thin. br /- Collage mode, where individual pictures in the collage update in sequence. br /- Energy save mode, where you can set times when frame is on. Also can turn on frame when new pictures are received. br /- Touch screen interface, for simple management and flipping through photos (you can disable touch screen interface). br /- Email upload. This is very convenient, especially from phone. br / br /Cons: br /- Management must be made thru Kodak website. What if Kodak website is down, or decides not to support product anymore? br /- On first use, it automatically upgraded firmware, which is fine. However, it wiped out my WiFi settings so I had to re-enter it. br /- Wished it was offered in larger screen size, which would be nicer for collage mode. br /- Security. If you enable upload by email option, anyone who knows the email address can send pictures to the frame. Last thing I want is spam or inappropriate photos on my frame. They should allow you to restrict who can send photos to the frame. br / br /So far I'm very impressed by this photo frame. Never thought of Kodak as a high-tech company, but I guess they know a thing or two about displaying pictures. I think it makes for a great gift that will keep on giving.
