5 out of 5 stars Mini Projector   September 3, 2010

4 out of 5 stars Joybee is a joy   August 31, 2010

I bought the BenQ Joybee GP! after reading many reviews. Size and weight are big considerations as I will be traveling with it frequently. This unit and it's giant power cord easily fit with my laptop and all my other stuff into my laptop case and didn't cause a stir going through security. Even so, I wish I had gone with the pico unit. The reason I went with this unit is because it has more lumens than the brightest pico unit I could find. The room did need to be darkened to see the pictures well, which can make it difficult for people to take notes during the presentation. The unit was simple to set up and worked perfectly with my Dell laptop. I haven't yet bought the cable to use it with the MAC. The focus is simple and the picture looks great even without a screen. I've showed Powerpoint shows on both a green wall and a yellow wall and the picture looked fine. So far, I am very happy with this cute little unit.

2 out of 5 stars Weak lamp   May 26, 2010

It does say that the room needs to be dark, but i never thought that it needed to be that dark. I have barely used this projector because the room conditions are not ideal, instead, i end up borrowing the company's.

5 out of 5 stars This Projector Is So Cool That I'm a Little Giddy, Talking About It!   May 11, 2010
April Blake (Genesee, PA)
I like technology and gadgets to the point where I can use them but not have to think too much about them. No matter what cool features something has, if I have to read a detailed manual just to be able to turn the thing on, it'll sit in a box shoved all the way to the back of the closet, or I'll give it away to someone who likes to fiddle with stuff like that. Fortunately for the BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini-LED DLP Projector (What a moniker for such a cool little gadget- Let's call it "Joybee" from here on out!), it falls into the category of being intuitive enough not to need the direction book. As another reviewer pointed out, the booklet that comes along with it is worthless- literally stick-figure cartoons, no words, no real instruction or value besides being sort of cute, and I didn't even open the CD, which is sure to contain all kinds of information about the product I don't need to know. What I do need to know: Joybee is plug-and-go. You can learn a lot about its features by playing and discovering them for yourself. br / br /Now, I don't do any presentations right now that require me to bring along a projector, or even a posterboard pie-chart, so while I'm sure Joybee is super-useful for those kinds of things, what really made me joyful to the point of giddiness when I was trying out my Joybee for the Vine Program is that I can use it like a high-tech overhead projector for blowing up my artwork (either created on the computer or by hand and scanned in and put on a USB drive) so I can trace the lines and make things like a 3-foot by 5-foot sign, or to paint a mural on a wall. Joybee says it's tripod-compatible, and it lives up to that claim. Besides the tripod, you don't need any fancy equipment to get the projector at the right height or angle, and if you're looking at this projector to buy it, you probably already have a tripod. br / br /For my needs and wants for a projector, Joybee's light is bright enough, it has just enough features, enough versatility to connect to other devices, and it doesn't waste time or space with a bunch of bells and whistles that would clutter up its simplicity. I like that there isn't a bulb to worry about having to replace- LEDs are the way to go! br / br /I'm sure there are more powerful, more advanced, more et cetera projectors out there, but if you're like me, and you just want something that's simple to use, super-portable, even a little cute (okay, a lot cute- design matters!) Joybee's a good fit, and I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend it!

4 out of 5 stars Big things DO come in small packages.   April 20, 2010

I am not up to date on most electronics. Fortunately, I have children. My daughter worked as a catering manager in a major Houston hotel. AV equipment was needed for many of the meetings she organized. She is now a college professor, so she uses that equipment herself, now. She was the one I called on to help me evaluate the BenQ Joybee GP1 Mini-LED DLP Projector. br / br /The first thing she said is that this is much smaller than the equipment she has used. She found it very easy to set up. She had never connected one through the computer before, but found this one was very easy to do. She said she didn't think this would work in a large setting, like a ballroom, but would work very well in a smaller setting like a meeting room or a classroom. Her one complaint about the device is that it gets very hot. - both the unit and the power cord. br / br /Her overall impression of the projector was very good. She said I may not get it back! br /
