3 out of 5 stars WON'T FIT HERO HD   August 11, 2010
V. lucero (nanakuli.hawai'i)
This is more of a warning. This replacement housing looks exactly like the Hero HD water housing I have but it's just small enough not to fit. Wonder why they didn't just make them all compatible. Seriously, the difference is 1-2mm. Otherwise great concept and footage. My housing broke however during my first session. In all fairness, the waves were pretty big at a gnarly spot called Yoks on O'ahu's west side.

4 out of 5 stars Really cool, works well, only minor complaints   February 16, 2010

I have used this camera while surfing for 3 months now. Easy to set up on the board. I chose to stick it rather than screw it and it stays very solidly. I bought a separate mount for my second board and now I can use the camera on both boards. My second board is a soft top and the adhesive has been effective there as well. It does the job really well and I can share pictures and video with friends and family. Uses SD memory which makes it extremely easy to transfer the files to a computer. br / br /One complaint I have is that when you are in the water the mode is difficult to read, and if you are not careful you may delete all your recordings. Read the manual and make sure you remember what each icon means. Also, after each recording the camera shows how many files it has recorded, but the numbers are displayed upside down (e.g. the 3 looks like an E, not a big issue but looks weird). The camera does not have an internal clock so the picture and video files are not dated. Finally, you need to recharge the batteries after each use, otherwise you may run out. All in all, I strongly recommend this camera.
