My Review September 9, 2010 Tones I have been looking at the Digital Photo Frame (DPF) products for several years now. Despite what people might say about all DPFs are the same, the truth is they aren't. Pandigital was one of the 1st companies to properly integrate the Digital Photo Frame product line. From very early on, they were the 1st DPFs to be compatible with memory cards of all forms and sizes (CF/SD/SDHC/MMC/MMC+/xD/MS/MS Duo/MS Pro Duo/etc.). A DPF is no good if it cannot read your card. They were also the 1st ones to offer video playback on over 90% of the video formats out there. This is actually a very important feature as we all have personal videos that we wanna playback, but we can't be bothered to change the format around to fit the DPF. I am a big believer in a feature is only as good as its ease of use.
br /
br /With that been said, I am 100% behind the hardware and software quality of the Pandigital digital photo frames. The look on the other hand, is a more personal item. I myself like the more modern look which the Pandigital photo frame does not offer. I do have to say the frame definitely fits seamlessly into any room in the house. It will never take predominance but rather attribute ever so intricately to its surrounding.

First unit was defective, replacement worked okay July 31, 2010 William W. Davis QUICK SUMMARY: I'm reviewing the second, replacement picture frame. The first one arrived displaying sample pictures that had huge splotches of pink covering over various portions of each picture. The replacement worked as expected. Trouble is, it's got a poor user interface, and the fade transition (my favorite) was disappointing. It's an okay value, not great, maybe there's better value elsewhere.

br /WHAT I LIKED:
br /
br /- Good value for the money, I thought. Nice display size would fit easily onto most any table or desk.
br /- Thoughtful electric plug design inserts at a 90 degree angle, so you can conceal the cord more easily behind the frame.
br /- Came with off-white and black mattes (choose which one you like).
br /- The color display (when it was working properly), looked very good
br /- The automatic resizing of photos worked perfectly, no need to resize or crop your photos firstly, just connect to your computer, then drag-n-drop.
br /- Came with a USB cable, and the connection to the computer was a cinch.
br /- Thoughtful magnetized back lets you stick the remote control right onto the backside of the frame so it doesn't get lost.
br /
br /WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:
br /
br /- This was a gift item for a non-techie, senior relative in another state. We thought we'd handle the loading of photos into the frame for her, so it could be ready to go right out of the box. Good thing we had her gift delivered to us, firstly, because the first unit was defective. It displayed huge splotches of pink all over every sample picture pre-installed with the frame. Where is the quality control? Apparently, there is no human at the end of the line that switches on these units to see that they render pictures correctly. Too bad. (NOTE: Amazon's replacement service, happily, is OUTSTANDING - they overnighted a replacement unit to us, and gave us 30 days to return the defective unit at no cost to us).
br /- The user interface, as others have noted, is pretty awful. It's not intuitive. It's not suitable for someone who isn't techie-inclined. That's a shame. Digital photo frames should have an elegant, intuitive, easy-to-use interface.
br /- Although the frame is designed to play music and videos, why? All that does is clutter the user interface. I did try loading a Flip share video, but the frame can't play Flip videos. If you're going to make a digital picture frame play videos, make it so it can play videos made from an easy-to-use video camera.
br /- I only like the subtle 'Fade' transition when the frame switches from photo to photo. Trouble is, with this frame, sometimes the screen would go completely dark before displaying the next photo (which was a distracting flashing affect), and sometimes it would actually fade one photo into another. I disliked the screen darkening that occurs every few photos. I have no idea if this is by design or just a glitch, but whichever, it's annoying.
br /
br /CONCLUSION: If you want an inexpensive picture frame, are willing to crack open the manual to figure out how to use the user interface, and don't mind some of the other issues I noted, then maybe this is a good choice for you. If you want better features and ease-of-use, though, you're likely going to spend more money to get those features.
Great July 21, 2010 Natalie E. Friend (Atlanta, GA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a lot of research on digital picture frames and finally settled on this one. I liked it so much that I got it again as a gift! It's very user friendly and holds a lot of pictures.
br /
br /The only problem I've had is that it doesn't stand up well - the flap in back isn't well angled, so if you have kids touching it all the time it falls over a LOT. If no one ever touches it, you should be fine.
br /
br /I put mine on the kitchen table, and everyone enjoys looking at the pictures! The kids get to see themselves as babies, and visitors think it's just the coolest idea ever. It also sparks dinner conversations and makes kitchen chores more tolerable.
br /
br /Buy it! You won't be disappointed.
Good value, Poor interface July 13, 2010 Bill 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a nice looking frame, with crisp images. It is at a great price point. On the downside is the user interface. I tried to set up pictures to hang vertically, with minimal success. Being relatively electronic savvy, I imported a couple test pictures, and noted orientation, then adjusted the pictures. Unfortunately, the display didn't cooperate with the 4x3 jpgs; the frame enlarged the picture and kept them as a 3x4 and cropped the top and bottom. Playing with the frame controls was off course a bit of a pain, but I found the rotation function which worked well until I went back and tried to play the pictures in slideshow mode. It promptly re-rotated the pictures back, cropping the top and bottom again. Selecting the photos, again immediately rotates these pictures back to the desired orientation, but I have yet to discovered how to keep them so while playing the slides. I will continue to toil, and hopefully eventually figure things out before the frame gets chucked across the room.
Good price digital frame with 1G internal memory July 13, 2010 D. Liu (San Jose, CA) First time buyer, still investigating but so far it looks alright. It has remote and download seems not a problem. THe only thing is that the pic rotation part is not automatic (maybe haven't figured out yet) but everything else seems like a good product with such price and quality. Recommend to buy.
